A U.S. citizen, Michael J. Inofuentes, has been found guilty by a federal jury in the United States of child sex trafficking and engaging in illicit sexual conduct abroad. Inofuentes, who was residing in Colombia, arranged meetings with a 15-year-old girl in Medellín, paying for repeated sexual encounters at local hotels.

The verdict carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, with the possibility of life. Sentencing is scheduled for January 2026.

Medellín Mayor Federico Gutiérrez confirmed the ruling, calling Inofuentes “another sexual predator” and stressing that foreign offenders will not escape justice in Colombia. “Children are sacred and must always be protected. Those who exploit them do not deserve compassion,” the mayor said.
