Colombian anti-narcotics police, working with Interpol, the U.S. DEA and Canadian authorities, arrested 40-year-old Canadian Arif Jhuman mid-workout on Wednesday at a Smart Fit gym in El Poblado’s El Tesoro mall.

Wanted on an Interpol red notice under the aliases “Gillani” and “William Milles,” he is already serving a near ten-year drug-trafficking sentence in Canada and was charged in Florida in December 2025, alongside four others, with conspiring to move more than 100 guns from the United States into Canada, 29 of which were later found at crime scenes, including homicides.

Police say Jhuman entered Colombia in 2025 on false documents and settled in El Poblado, where investigators believe he may have made contact with the Clan del Golfo, and he now sits in Colombian custody as the United States and Canada compete over his extradition.

He is the third foreign fugitive pulled from an El Poblado gym or hotel this year.
