Authorities at Medellín’s José María Córdova International Airport carried out the capture and expulsion of a U.S. citizen wanted in his home country for homicide.
The joint operation, coordinated by Migración Colombia with support from the National Police, the Attorney General’s CTI, and the U.S. Marshals Service, placed the man under immigration custody before he was handed over to U.S. authorities.
Paola Salazar, regional director of Migración Colombia in Antioquia, confirmed the expulsion, emphasizing the cooperation between Colombian and U.S. institutions in strengthening judicial collaboration against transnational crime.
The operation is part of an ongoing effort that, according to official data, has resulted in 32 foreign nationals being expelled from Antioquia between January and mid-July 2025.
Brazilian Citizen Also Expelled After Football Riots
Separately, Colombian authorities expelled Brazilian national Allan Aquino de Souza after identifying him as a main participant in riots that broke out following the Atlético Nacional vs. São Paulo F.C. Copa Libertadores match at the Atanasio Girardot stadium.
Aquino de Souza was detained at José María Córdova airport and ordered to leave the country for disturbing public order. Migración Colombia confirmed the decision on its official X account, citing his involvement in the violent incidents during the round of 16 match.
