A U.S. federal court has sentenced 57-year-old Jordanian-American Hamzeh Mohammad Anasweh to 21 years in prison for child pornography and attempted sexual abuse of minors in Medellín, Colombia. He was arrested at Miami International Airport in July 2023, just before boarding a flight to Medellín.

Authorities intercepted Anasweh after an Angel Watch alert flagged him due to an active warrant involving the sexual abuse of a 17-year-old girl. Investigators found multiple explicit images of minors on his phone.

During the trial, it was revealed that Anasweh had visited Medellín 11 times in two years, often targeting minors through social media under the alias “JS.” He reportedly sent money to the victims in exchange for future encounters.

This is the second major conviction involving a foreigner abusing minors in Medellín in recent weeks. Last month, Ecuadorian-American Stefan Andrés Correa was sentenced to life in prison for crimes against at least 45 minors.
