Two foreign nationals were found dead within 24 hours in El Poblado, one of Medellín’s most visited neighborhoods, bringing the total number of tourist deaths in the area to 14 this year.

The first case involved 44-year-old American Brian Patrick Downes, who was found unresponsive in his apartment in the Bosques de San Diego complex on March 26. Reports say he had consumed hallucinogenic substances during a “reconciliation party” with his wife after an argument. His behavior reportedly became aggressive before he collapsed. Paramedics confirmed he had no vital signs upon arrival.

Just hours later, in the early morning of March 27, 36-year-old Dominican Daniel Morel Ramírez died in a hotel near Carrera 35 and Calle 10 in Provenza. Initial reports suggest health complications as the cause, though investigations are ongoing.

Authorities are looking into both deaths but say most cases involve drug use or health issues. Tourists are urged to be cautious, especially regarding substance consumption.
